Your Voice Matters – Vote in Aalborg Kommune
Living in Aalborg Kommune means being part of a vibrant, international community. With over 17,000 international citizens representing more than 140 nationalities, you are an important part of what makes our city grow, thrive, and innovate.
By voting in the local elections, you have the power to influence how your community develops – from schools and culture to green spaces, jobs, and infrastructure.
Who Can Vote?
You can vote in the municipal elections if you:
- Are a Danish citizen, or
- Are a citizen of another EU country, Iceland, or Norway, or
- Have had permanent residence in Denmark for at least three years before the election date.
- Your vote ensures that your voice is heard, your needs are considered, and that Aalborg Kommune continues to be a place where everyone feels at home.

Lasse Frimand Jensen has dedicated his career to making Aalborg Kommune a welcoming, forward-thinking city with opportunities for all – no matter where you come from.

- Has lived and worked abroad, gaining experience as an expat
- Deeply involved in local community life and volunteering initiatives
- Strong advocate for international solidarity
- Long-time champion of international citizens’ rights and opportunities
- As mayor, Lasse’s vision is to strengthen Aalborg Kommune’s international community through better job opportunities, stronger networks, and inclusive cultural initiatives.
A Stronger International Community
Over the past years, Lasse has worked to:
- Establish and lead International House North Denmark, a one-stop service hub for job seekers, entrepreneurs, and newcomers
- Launch initiatives connecting international citizens with local jobs and companies
- Host events, seminars, and cultural activities for the international community
- Organize the Sustainability Festival, creating green volunteering and career opportunities
- Promote diversity and global outlook among local businesses and residents
A Vision for International Citizens
In line with our election programme, we are working to:
- Create good jobs and opportunities for international graduates, expats, and their families
- Strengthen International House North Denmark as a hub for newcomers
- Build a greener Aalborg Kommune, where sustainability creates jobs and better quality of life
- Invest in welfare and education, so every child and family can thrive
- Support cultural diversity and make Aalborg Kommune a truly international city
